The
Center    for
Constitutionality

"The rule of law actually means something.  Constitutions were written . . for a reason and they lay down the basic framework in which we make decisions.  They’re the rules for the game and they’re not that hard to read in New Jersey."  -- New Jersey Governor Jon S. Corzine

The Center for Constitutionality is a new non-partisan, non-profit independent watchdog institution to review all governmental action in New Jersey and take all steps necessary or advisable (including, without limitation, litigation) to seek enforcement of the constitutions of the State of New Jersey and the United States.

The Center will be an umbrella organization with various discrete projects under its leadership.  The first project will be The Taxpayers Protection Project.  As then-Acting Governor Codey said of New Jersey's budget, "the political games ... have only made it worse. Fiscal gimmicks and borrowing have been a bi-partisan budget addiction.  Both parties have borrowed recklessly and spent well beyond the State's means.  Both parties have placed political expediency over financial responsibility ..."  And, as the New Jersey Supreme Court decided in Lance v. McGreevey, the budget has not always been constitutional.  This matter cannot be left to the political parties.  The Center will seek to enforce New Jersey's Constitution.
